1979 - 1982

In January 1979 Thea Dzirkalas was appointed as Musical Director.
In April 1979 the title of the choir became Tuggerah Lakes Community Choir which was still an activity of the Uniting Church until February 1982 when the choir members voted that it become autonomous to encourage all denominations.  The choir became a group of people who love to sing with no barriers of age or denomination within its membership.

J.W. Peterson's cantata "The Last Week" was performed for Easter 1979.  The choir then performed at the Uniting Church, Tuggerah Lakes Parish Annual Service on 20 June, 1979.  The service started with pianist, Olive Nowland, and organist, Meg Foster playing a prelude of 'The Church's One Foundation'.  The choir then sang 'God So Loved the World'.  Soloists, Oriel Parker sang 'Friends of mine' Oriel Parker was an outstanding soloist.  Ted Kurschner sang 'Teach Me to Love'.  Two alternate Ladies Quartet's sang 'Suffer the Little Children' and 'Count your Blessings'.  The choir ended with the Choral Benediction 'The Lord whom We Love'.

Thea was extremely conscientious and combined with many other musical groups for the following performances over her two and half year span.  Under Thea's guidance, small groups of members performed at the Central Coast Eisteddfod in 1981 within Section 112 'Vocal Ensemble' and Section 113 'Choral Championship'.  Both groups came first in their Sections.  In April 1981, Tuggerah Lakes Community choir and Terrigal Seaside Church's Choir combined to present "It Took A Miracle".  Thea received many letters of appreciation.

It was with regret, that family had to take precedence over continuing with the choir so Thea resigned mid-year of 1982.  Six years later Thea introduced the Central Coast Singers.
