GREG ELLSMORE
GREG

1982

Greg Ellsmore was appointed Musical Director in April 1982 with assistant, Margaret Keech.  It was at this time that the choir was renamed the Tuggerah Lakes Choral Society.

Greg was a performer and teacher of music. He was a graduate of the N.S.W. Conservatorium of Music and had had a wide range of conducting experience in both the choral & orchestral fields.  Prior to joining Tuggerah Lakes Choral Society, Greg had been conductor of the NSW Police Choir and the Waverley Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir for many years.

Greg lived in Sydney and so it was not always possible for him to commute to the coast for rehearsals, or for some performances, so Margaret Keech assisted in conducting the choir.

There was one performance at Toukley Uniting Church Hall that gave mention in the The Guardian (the local newspaper at the time) dated 7 October 1982 stating:
Greg resigned at the end of 1982 because of the commuting difficulties to the coast when he became Music Master at Knox Grammar School.  Greg then became Director of Music at Chevalier College in Bowral for 20 years and then 8 years in Coffs Harbour conducting, among other pursuits, the Coffs Harbour Orchestra.  Greg is currently living in  Melbourne while his wife completes a PhD at Melbourne University.
